Tear 'n' Share Savoury Scone

I love this one - a deliciously cheesy large scone for sharing… perfect for lunch, savoury brekkie, side for soup or food on the go.

What you will need:

2 cups (300g) white or wholemeal self-raising flour

1tsp baking powder

50g butter of choice - I use naturali vegan block

1/2 cup of fresh herbs of choice or 2tsp of dried.

1 cup of finely grated carrot (approx 2)

1 cup of greens finely chopped - spinach, kale & leek work really well.

1 cup of finally grated cheese, I use non dairy

Good pinch of salt & pepper

150ml of non dairy milk

Let's cook:

1) Pre-heat your oven at 180c and line a baking tray with some greaseproof paper.

2) In a medium to large bowl add the flour, butter, baking powder, salt and pepper.

3) With your fingers mix and rub this together so it crumbles and look like breadcrumbs.

4) Add your herbs, grated cheeze & veggies and mix together.

5) Gradually add your milk whilst bringing the mixture together to form a dough. Be careful not to add too much milk.

6) Place your dough on your baking tray and mould into whatever shape you fancy.

7) Gently rub little olive oil over the top and score your scone loaf into 8. It’s now ready to go in the oven.

8) Leave your scone to cook for 40 - 50 minutes. Please check as all our ovens are slightly different. When it’s cooked through and lovely and golden, remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before tucking in.
